Guest Speakers

This year's retreat speakers are Raina Hampton and Kristi Johnson. Raina and Kristi were both born and raised in Baton Rouge and were active members of Grace Life before moving to lead ministries with Young Life alongside their husbands. Even after moving many miles apart they have remained dear friends. Both Raina and Kristi have found great freedom in their identity in Christ and have a passion for sharing that message as they walk alongside others.

  • Raina lives in Erie, Colorado, just outside of Boulder. She met Jesus when she was a rebellious teen and considers herself the poster child for Young Life and all that Jesus has done through it in her life and in countless others. She has been married to her best friend, Allen, for 21 years and together they have four amazing children, ages 18, 16, 14 and 10. They also have two Bernese Mountain dogs! Raina is originally from Baton Rouge where she began attending Grace Life back in 1998. She and Allen dreamed of moving to Colorado to work with Young Life. They prayed and asked Jesus to make that happen and 6 years ago He said yes. They moved from Oxford, Mississippi where Allen started Young Life and directed the middle school, high school and college ministries for 9 years. Raina was a stay-at-home mom, artist and volunteer YL leader. Allen currently serves as the college director for YL College at CU Boulder. They have been involved with Youth Life for over 20 years now and work together to reach out to the lost and hurting students in Boulder.

Raina LOVES the mountains and tries to backpack, hike, camp and climb as often as possible with their kids, YL college students and dogs. Her family loves movies and football and spends many weekend nights snuggled on the couch enjoying popcorn and m&m's.

Raina is currently pursuing a master's degree in counseling from Colorado Christian University to have more tools to help people of all ages and stages of life. She has experienced alot of victory and has gotten to know Jesus better over the years with Transformation Prayer Ministry. The grace message and the New Covenant are where she found her true identity in Christ and she loves sharing this message with others so they too can find freedom and abundant life with God.

  • Kristi is a Baton Rouge native and graduate of both Baton Rouge High and LSU. She is a product of Young Life and Grace Life Fellowship, the former being where she met Christ and the latter being where she grew up in her understanding of the riches of the New Covenant. She met her husband, Luke, through YL in Baton Rouge. They were part of the GLF body until 2002 when they moved to Shreveport to get YL started in North Louisiana. They moved from Shreveport to Ruston in 2017, again to start and build the Kingdom through YL. She has served in different part-time staff and volunteer roles in YL. What a joy it has been for her to know and share Jesus with high school and college-aged young ladies over the years.

Luke and Kristi have three amazing children: Will (20), Nate (18), and Leigh (15). Her second act in life has been starting her interior decorating business, Kristi Johnson Interiors, almost a decade ago. But, her greatest passion continues to be Luke and their kids. Kristi's other passions include her morning cup of coffee, Thai food, running, dog videos, and anything to do with mountains.
