Program
Grace Life Preschool is committed to providing a secure and nurturing environment with God's grace and love as the foundation of all learning. The school year runs from early September through mid-May on Mondays through Thursdays from 9 am till 2 pm. The GLP teachers focus on age appropriate skills to encourage each child's independence and curiosity. We want our end result to be children that love to learn! Contact GLP Office Manager Lori Ficklin at 225.769.8998 with any questions or to schedule a tour.
Curriculum
Since young children learn from interactions with their environment, a carefully planned, rich environment is key to our program. We use criteria established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children to guide our practices and we use The Creative Curriculum to establish the framework for our classrooms, ages 6 months through Pre-K4. The Creative Curriculum is a play-based and research-based curriculum that supports active learning and progress in all developmental areas (social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive). All children learn and develop at different rates and The Creative Curriculum specializes in differentiated instruction that allows learning for all children at their own pace.
Meet Our Director
Kathryn Chalas is from Baton Rouge where she met her husband Tim while in college. They married in 1998 and have three children. Kathryn taught both PreK and Kindergarten and served as an After Care Director before staying home with her children. When she decided to return to work, she directed an established Baton Rouge preschool for 4 years before joining the Grace Life team in 2014 to serve as the founding Director of Grace Life Preschool. Kathryn has a passion for early childhood education and is grateful for the opportunity to lead a preschool at the church she has called home for over 25 years.
